Lawsuit Details

• The lawsuit claims Mike Tyson broke his contract on the same day his fight with Jake Paul was announced.

According to numerous reports, affiliate Medier has filed a lawsuit against former professional boxer Mike Tyson and his company Tyrannic.

Reports state that Tyson is being sued for nearly €1.5m ($1.59m) as he allegedly broke a deal to promote a gambling company after he agreed to a contract in January this year.

It is claimed Tyson broke this contract in March on the same day his fight with YouTuber Jake Paul was announced, which as a result, cost Medier a substantial amount of money, with the company citing the fight as the reason Tyson broke the promotional agreement.

Tyson’s Side Of The Argument

However, on the other side of the argument, Tyson’s representatives claim Medier breached the terms of their agreement with the boxer on “multiple occasions,” and that it was well within its rights to terminate the agreement.

Impact Of The Fight

The fight that took place in November drew huge audiences on Netflix, being watched by 65 million households at its peak and as a result saw records broken for sportsbooks.

Entain reported that the fight saw the highest number of bets and total amount staked in its history for a combat event across its BetMGM, Coral, and Ladbrokes brands, while in the US the likes of BetMGM and DraftKings revealed record betting figures for the fight.
